Racing: Six winners in day for Johnson

Chris Johnson rode six winners in a day for the second time yesterday at Cromwell.

The 45-year-old Amberley jockey won aboard Not My Ruby, So Far, Ketamada, Lucrative, Tappy and Pow Wow Jane.

He also gained second placings on Trista Flight and Tapinsky.

He gained the mount on Not My Ruby when Kylie Williams stood down through illness.

So Far and Lucrative are both trained by Paul Richards at Wingatui.

Johnson was fined $200 for a dual engagement yesterday.

Johnson rode six of the eight flat winners on a 10-race card at Waimate in July 1996.

They were Smoky Jim, Brave Kappy, Pelican Brief, Listen Timmy, Phileas Fogg and Go Rogie.

He was away from race riding between August 1998 and September 2005.

He has ridden 1620 winners since his first success in 1981.

Albert Whittaker rode all seven winners on the card at the Huntly meeting in February, 1910.

Pow Wow Jane is trained by John and Karen Parsons, who also won yesterday with El Capricho.

Pow Wow Jane, Tanners Point and Jackson Jones had won for the stable at Washdyke on Thursday.

El Capricho was ridden by stable apprentice Centaine Spittles, who was the substitute for Williams on maiden winner Draconic yesterday.

Ketamada, winner of the open 2000m yesterday, has the Wellington Cup on his agenda.

The brother to The Meista is trained by Peter and Dawn Williams.
