Tipsy Gambler and Miss Milwaukee, maiden winners at Oamaru on Sunday, are contrasting yearling sale purchases.
Tipsy Gambler cost $29,000 and Miss Milwaukee, $2500.
Miss Milwaukee, who was bought at the 2009 premier yearling sale by John and Daphne Cheesman, of Oamaru, is a 4yr-old mare by Dream Away-Somekindaloven. She is the second foal of her dam and a sister to Caribbean Dream (1.54.2).
Miss Milwaukee, who is trained by Graeme Anderson and Amber Hoffman, followed up a second at Forbury Park three days earlier.
Shelley Singer and Graeme Wall, the Ashburton owners, were regarding Oamaru as their lucky course after Tipsy Gambler was successful. The 3yr-old filly trained by John Hay was having her first start. The partners have also won races at Oamaru with Bon Ton Boy and Franco Nereus, both trained by Hay.
Bon Ton Boy was sold to Australia after winning five races and Franco Nereus (three wins) was leased there.
Tipsy Gambler was a $29,000 purchase by Hay at the 2010 Australasian Classic yearling sale. She is by Bettor's Delight and the seventh winner from her dam, Whata Spirit, who has left Family Spirit (1.52.4).
Falcon Ruler, the 2yr-old pacer, qualified 6.6sec inside the required time with a 2.00.2 mile rate for 1700m (mobile) at Forbury Park yesterday.
Falcon Ruler, who finished 37 lengths clear in the heat for 2yr-olds, is trained by Andrew Faulks.
Falcon Ruler is a colt by Falcon Seelster and the first foal of Ferry Glide, an Artiscape mare who won three races when trained by Faulks.
