On Tuesday, Cane posted a photo to his social media channels of himself enjoying the lounge chair view over Kurow and the Waitaki River from the Kurow Hill walkway. The 1.1km walkway, in the hometown of All Blacks great Richie McCaw, features old armchairs and couches at different points on the climb to provide rest stations for walkers.

To the delight of Oamaru gym-goers, Cane, who had surgery to reattach a pectoral muscle last month, visited Snap Fitness Oamaru to work out yesterday.

‘‘He came in, had a chat, got a photo and had a workout,’’ Snap Fitness Oamaru manager Andrew Allardice told the Otago Daily Times.

Cane told Allardice he was holidaying with his wife Harriet, and the couple had also visited Tekapo. In Oamaru, they dined at Cucina and Del Mar and said ‘‘very good things about them both’’, Allardice said.
