The Highlanders notched up an emphatic 52-0 win over the Sunwolves in Tokyo tonight.

The team led 33-0 at the break and was way too strong and accurate against a Sunwolves side which did not turn up at all.

The side scored eight tries in all and found holes in the home side's defence seemingly at will. Attack was accurate while the defence from the Sunwolves was not good enough at this level. It was the biggest winning margin ever recorded by the HIghlanders and to keep the Sunwolves scoreless was a real feather in the cap for the side.

The win was based on a solid forward performance, which dominated in the set piece. The side's scrum was strong and halfback Aaron Smith enjoyed a dream ride behind the pack in in front of him.

Best for the Highlanders were locks Jackson Hemopo and Tom Franklin while Josh Ioane and Tei Walden played well in the backs although it was hard to single out any player in a complete performance.

Highlanders 52 (Tevita Li 2, Tyrel Lomax, Tom Franklin, Josh Ioane, Liam Coltman, Rob Thompson, Sio Tomkinson tries; Josh Ioane 5 con; Bryn Gatland con) Sunwolves 0. Halftime: 33-0
