The injury gods are not smiling on Nehe Milner-Skudder.

The former All Black joined the Highlanders in May and hoped to get on the field for the Super Rugby Aotearoa competition.

But that now looks unlikely as he has picked up a knee injury. He tweaked his medial collateral ligament (MCL) at training this week. Though it is not considered serious, he will not be playing today.

It was hoped to get Milner-Skudder to play club rugby for Zingari-Richmond today and prove his fitness for next week’s final match of the Super Rugby Aotearoa competition against the Hurricanes at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

But that now looks unlikely, although Highlanders coach Aaron Mauger said there could still be a chance to get back into the side.

Mauger also confirmed if the Pacific composite side comes about he may be involved in a coaching capacity.

A side made up of players with Pacific Islands links may play the All Blacks in early October to give the All Blacks some match practice before possible Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championship games.
