A driver was left dumbfounded after witnessing a car speed toward an oncoming ute while overtaking a truck north of Dunedin yesterday.
Daryl Craigie was driving at Pigeon Flat, north of Dunedin, on State Highway 1 yesterday at about 3.10pm when he witnessed the near miss.
"Following them prior, you sort of knew that something stupid was about to happen eventually, the way they were driving, but it was far worse than I had actually expected."
The video shows a car overtake a truck while a ute approaches in the oncoming lane.
The ute is forced to take evasive action as the car squeezes between it and the truck before the car returns to its rightful lane.
"It was just genuine confusion of what am I even witnessing right now," Mr Craigie said.
Mr Craigie said he contacted the company that owns the ute with the video and number plate of the offending vehicle in case they wanted to take the incident further.
