Common sense has prevailed and something has gone right this season for Highlanders loose forward Liam Squire.

Squire was cited for foul play, after striking with a shoulder in the early stages of the match against the Hurricanes last Friday night. But the finding was dismissed by a Sanzaar committee and Squire is free to play.

Sanzaar foul play review committee chairman Nigel Hampton said Squire had legitimately entered a ruck through the gate and not at great speed.

Squire was said to have had the correct body position going into the ruck and it was just the sudden movement of the opposing player - TJ Perenara - which caused Squire to collide with him.

Additional evidence was provided by Squire, Perenara, Highlanders coaching staff and Highlanders lawyer Aaron Lloyd.

A medical report on Perenara, which showed he suffered no injury, was also submitted.

Squire's availability is one plus for the loose forward, who has had a tough start to 2018, a broken thumb having kept him off the field for more than two months.

He is likely to start for the All Blacks this weekend in the first test against the French.
