Otago and Highlanders prop Aki Seiuli has arrived in Glasgow in the latest stage of his career, joining an ever-growing list of Otago players heading offshore.

Seiuli (26) has played more than 60 games for Otago and 40 games for the Highlanders. He has joined the Glasgow Warriors on a two-year deal.

The loosehead prop first played for Otago in Balclutha in 2012, in a pre-season match against Southland, and was a constant feature of the team for the next few years.

But a serious knee injury picked up in 2018 while playing for Otago meant he did not play for the Highlanders last season. He had indicated earlier this season he was keen to head overseas to continue his career.

He will be coached at the Glasgow Warriors by former Chiefs coach Dave Rennie. The club announced his arrival in Glasgow this week.

The departure of Seiuli means out of the 23 players who took the field for Otago in the championship final at the end of 2016, just six players are still with the province.

The rest have either gone to other provinces or have shifted overseas.

Seiuli is likely to be replaced in Otago by the likes of Jonah Aoina and George Bower.
