The old Bayfield High School Touch team was back in business during the New Zealand Masters Games to honour Blair Cheyne, who is due to get married next month.
The Freedom team has been dubbed the Stags for the tournament because they are honouring, or embarrassing, Cheyne.
It is a week-long stag do for Cheyne to celebrate his wedding to Queensland girl Carlee Harold in Brisbane on March 20.
Cheyne (37), an architectural draughtsman, has been the stand-out player in every game.
It is impossible to miss him, as he wears a pink T-shirt and maroon women's shorts.
"We were the original Touch team from Bayfield High School 20 years ago and we have kept in contact over the years," team captain Murray Taylor told the Otago Daily Times.
The team has used many excuses to have reunions over the past 20 years but this is the first time it has competed at a Masters Games.
"We thought it was a good idea," Taylor said.
"It just happened to coincide with Blair's stag do.
"We are a close-knit group and enjoy each other's company.
"It is hard to hold a glass of beer in our hands on the Touch paddock so we have some special functions "for Blair."
Cheyne left Dunedin 10 years ago for Brisbane.
He has also had a two-year stint in Abu Dhabi.
"I've been kept out of Murray's plans.
"I don't know what is going to happen from day to day," Cheyne said.
"It's just great to have my friends around at this time.
"It is a boys only week and we are having a great time."
Cheyne means a great time off the field - the Stags have not been winning many games.
