This month I'm featuring, Elizabeth (Kami) Wells, the assistant manager of Mi Piaci in the 'What ... Wore" series. This sweetie, who's into body positivity, 90s fashion and is a huge fan of denim shares with us her favourite items from Meridian Mall this season, and gives us insight in what she loves to wear.

How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my personal style as a weird mix of '90s fashion, minimalism, vaguely witch inspired, and a whole lot of denim.

How has your sense of style evolved over the years?
I have gone through so many different phases of fashion. When I was 13, I went through the infamous emo/goth stage where I wore nothing but black and band t-shirts. I’ve tried vintage, bohemian, punk, surf and skate style, preppy- I’m constantly changing my fashion, trying to find a style that feels totally ‘me.’ I think I find a new ‘me’ every 6 months.

Where do you seek inspiration for what to wear?
I tend to take inspiration from a whole lot of places. I love Instagram and definitely follow one too many fashion accounts. But I’m open to inspiration from all places: tv shows, old movies, my friends. Working in a mall also helps with inspiration, though my bank account doesn’t thank me very much.

Who's your style icon?
That’s a tough one! My style is so eclectic, I admire so many different people’s style, from Kylie Jenner to Stevie Nicks and Emma Watson. I wouldn’t say that I strive to dress like any one person, I just try to be unapologetically me at all times.

What's an item you're eyeing this season?
As I mentioned before, I adore denim, so I am living for all the oversized denim jackets and ripped mom jeans that are available now. I’m also a big fan of linen: it feels so light and flowy for the nice weather that’s coming our way.

What's your fave fashion season and why?
My favourite season is spring/summer. I’ve grown up living in a lot of warm places, so I love wear shorts and tank tops, throwing on a light jacket in the evenings. Body confidence has always been something that I’ve struggled with so it’s easy to get lost in the big cardigans and jackets of winter and autumn. I look forward to warm weather where I can express myself to the fullest and show everyone that I’m proud of how I look!

What's the item of clothing you couldn't live without?
Definitely my oversized denim jacket that I bought on sale from Slick Willys by the brand Assembly Label. I literally wear it with all of my outfits.

What's an item you wish other's could live without?
I feel like there are a lot of fashion trends that I’m not a fan of - bell bottom jeans, ‘sneans’ (and not the cute Adidas and cropped jeans combo), overly plucked eyebrows or see through plastic boots. Sometimes fashion is just a little too out there for me, and some trends need to stay in the past where they belong.

Why did you pick the outfit you choose?
I picked my outfit because I feel like it really sums up my sense of style. A denim jacket (of course) a nice body-con dress that shows off my curves, and some cute black suede wedges that have a serious 90s vibe. It may not be super high-fashion or expensive, but I love how I feel in it. Even though the rest of Dunedin likes to shy away from colours, I’m trying to branch out and embrace colours that aren’t black.
