Two southern-founded companies received accolades at last night’s 2024 Hi-Tech Awards function in Auckland.

Alexandra-founded Starboard Maritime Intelligence won double honours, winning both the hi-tech start-up company of the year and most innovative hi-tech software solution.

Through a combination of global automatic identification system (AIS) data, multiple layers of satellite data, scientific models and other information or intelligence, Starboard Maritime Intelligence (SMI) could track every vessel on the planet in real time and throughout history.

Queenstown’s Immortal Camera Systems, founded by Brad Hurndell, won the most innovative hi-tech creative technology solution.

More than 1300 people attended the awards function at Spark Arena, making it one of the biggest awards nights in New Zealand.

Rocket Lab was named company of the year.
