Milk plant chimney transported

A chimney destined for Mataura Valley Milk's $240million milk-powder manufacturing plant was transported to Gore early last week.

The photo was taken just after the truck negotiated the sharp bend at Gorge Creek, Fruitlands, near Alexandra.

The plant is expected to generate more than 60 full-time-equivalent jobs and produce 30,000 tonnes of infant formula per year at full capacity. It will need to process about 500,000 litres of whole milk a day to meet targets.
