The South Island crossbred wool market showed resilience in the face of fluctuating exchange rates last week, with most improving in price.
New Zealand Wool Services International reported that last week's Christchurch sale prices for fine crossbred fleece and shears rose 2%-4% on the previous sale, with competition for short length wool 32-33 micron, rising 4%-7%.
Shear wool, 34-35 micron, rose 1.5%-4%, while prices for coarse fleece and shear rose 1%-3.5%.
Fine wool struggled with 18 micron Merino fleece and fine falling 1.5%-2.5%.
The sale attracted 11,000 bales of which 87.5% was sold.
