Celebrating Catlins Rally 10th anniversary in style

PETS RACING in action.
PETS RACING in action.
Pets Racing said it would be different and it was. We made it. Glorious sunshine, pristine roads, hungry competition and 98 fuel popping happily away in all 4 cylinders.

After a wet and slippery first stage, the whites of co-driver Leighton's eyes were showing as he had seen far too much of the side of the road.

Second stage, super fast and David was on fire. Doing over 170kmh on shingle in a 35 year-old-car, is not for the faint hearted, but it did get the blood going and set us up for the rest of the day.

As co-driver, I had to keep check of the times, and we swapped back and forth with the other two wheel drives before finishing first in 1600 class.

All credit to the Eastern Southland Car Club boys as they certainly know how to run a tight, fast, fun, relaxed rally with most competitors finishing and virtually all of them, along with us, quoting Arnie Schwarzenegger - "I'll be back".
