The launch was held in the party headquarters in Macandrew Rd, in party stronghold South Dunedin on Saturday afternoon.
Finance Minister Grant Robertson (above) spoke along with both candidates, and Southern Labour chairwoman Ruth Chapman.
Mr Robertson said Ms Hobbs would bring a lifetime of knowledge about how to make the environment more sustainable, and how to ensure social justice would be driven through environmental issues.
Mr Robertson and both candidates also appealed for people attending to get actively involved with their campaigns and sign up to door-knock.

Which translates into:- how to manipulate climate change issues, to drive more government control into every aspect of the populations life so to enforce a socialist agenda by our elite, on all New Zealanders.
Make no mistake people. We do NOT want organised national political parties controlling our regional or city councils. We need people that fight for the best interests of our region, not some mythical ideology of ‘social justice’.
Yes, our environment is important to us, so manipulating our love for our community and country to push a socialist agenda which always leads to poverty and misery for the general population, is disingenuous to say the least.
