The 17-year-old has competed in athletics, hockey, volleyball, netball and basketball.
For her efforts she has suffered from shin splints, ligament damage in her knees and an ankle injury.
Despite the setbacks, her passion for sport is obvious and unwavering, with volleyball and basketball her favourites.
In 2007 she represented Otago in the under-15 volleyball team and from 2007 to 2008 she played in the South Island under-17 Southern Slam basketball team.
From 2005 to 2007, Sara represented Otago at age-group hockey and was selected for a regional coaching clinic in two of those years.
In netball she was part of the North Otago Netball Academy last year.
In athletics she participated in the 100m and javelin at the Otago-Southland secondary schools championships and the South Island secondary schools championships this year, coming fifth in both events at both competitions.
Sara's school subjects also received a lot of her attention as a geography class trip to Queenstown was one of the highlights of her year.
She found the subject very interesting and got a surprise helicopter flight while away.
Achievements: Head girl; student council representative; peer support leader; NCEA level 1 and 2 with merit; Otago hockey age-group representative 2005 -2007; Otago under-15 volleyball team member 2007; South Island under-17 basketball representative 2007 and 2008; competitor in Otago secondary schools athletics, Otago and Southland secondary schools athletics and South Island secondary schools athletics championships.
Role model: Her mother because "she is very determined" and participates in adventure activities and promotes physical activity.
Hopes for the future: She wanted to study something to do with either geography or tourism.
