Deep in a dense forest during winter a concrete jail is full of adolescents.

They are there because they have been told they have committed crimes, but not one can remember doing what they have been accused of.

A form of brainwashing takes place, disguised as ''lessons''.

Some of the inmates have ''turned'': accepted their ''guilt'' and are passive.

For others, escape is their goal.

Unknown to the inmates, high-level scheming has led to their predicament.

Can anyone escape to help free all?

I enjoyed this book, but must protest at the publisher's lack of transparency in failing to state it is the first of a series.

The reader finds this out only at the end.
