In an effort to put life back into the Kurow Festival, organisers have taken the bull by the horns and are planning it big!
In a break from recent tradition, Market Day will not be held on race day this year but on Saturday December 31. Plans are in hand to close off a section of the main street and fill this with all manner
of fun.
"The festival itself is over the whole week,'' says Graham Hill, committee chairman.
"We felt that we had narrowed our options by focusing on only one day. The Kurow Race Day will be on December 30, as usual, and will continue as usual. It is always popular and allows Market Day to stand on its own.
Stall conveners co-ordinator Pam Currall has high hopes for the festival, based on the "phenomenal" interest among new and previous stallholders. "We are looking at more than 60 at this early stage."
This year will see the introduction of a new element to the entertainment side as well. The resident band for the day will be the very popular Coyotes, with their broad selection of great classic
country rock. Intertwined with this will be an opportunity for up-and-coming artists to show off their skills and win prizes.
"In addition buskers are more than welcome at this market," says Jon Brocas, entertainment co-ordinator. "We have a special deal for them and at the close of the market a prize for the best overall entertainer."
