Ask a Chef reveals the secrets of those superb dishes you ate in cafes and restaurants and wanted to try yourself.

1 cup cooked mashed pumpkin
½ cup peanut butter
2 eggs
¼ cup coconut oil (melted)
2½ cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda

Heat oven to 175degC fan bake.

Combine pumpkin, peanut butter, eggs and oil in a bowl. Add baking soda and whole wheat flour. Stir until a stiff dough forms.

Roll out dough with a rolling pin and use a cookie cutter to cut out dog bone shapes, or whatever cookie shape you like.

Bake for approximately 15 minutes depending on the size of your doggie treat.

These treats keep best in the freezer taking out what you want daily.

Recipe provided by Odelle Hawkins at Waitaki Braids in Kurow. Recipe requested by Glenys Dawson.
