Robbie Nicol recently performed in political satire White Man Behind a Desk at the Hutton Theatre in Otago Museum.

What was the best birthday present you ever received, and why?

By far and away the best present I've received on my birthday was being born. Life is pretty rubbish a lot of the time, but it is difficult to find a preferable alternative. The gift of life is definitely the best gift so far - the rest of them were mainly books.

What smell do you find irresistible?

Truly have not found a smell that I am incapable of resisting. My friends often comment on my unrivalled ability to resist any and all smells.

What is your least favourite thing about humanity?

Humanity's rapacious appetite for brief novelty interviews really bothers me. I'm constantly telling people, never take part in brief novelty interviews. And hypocrisy. I also hate hypocrisy.

What is one strong childhood memory?

I've tried to forget my childhood years - too embarrassing. For the first few years, I could barely read and I couldn't drive a car until right near the end. Just, really disappointing stuff.

What is your message?

Our comedy satire show has turned a new leaf, and we're absolutely determined that comedy and politics should never mix again. We feel that comedy is a problem that must be stopped, and we've created an extremely serious seminar to convey that message. Unfortunately, people keep telling us that it's a "very funny theatrical experience'', which is not what we're going for at all.
