A man and two young children have died in a gas blast and fire that destroyed a caravan in the Queensland city of Mount Isa.
The 39-year-old man and two children, aged 4 and 7, were killed in the blast that was so powerful it was heard across the outback mining city, police said.
Police say the remains of the three, who were believed to have been inside the van at the time, have been found.
A gas leak reportedly sparked the explosion, causing a fire that also spread to the roof of a neighbouring house.
An exclusion zone remains in place around the property in suburban Mornington.
Scientific officers are on their way from Townsville to investigate the tragic incident.
