Man dead, woman injured in Perth deli siege

A man has reportedly been shot dead and a woman has had her throat cut after being taken hostage in a Perth delicatessen.

The man entered the Carlisle delicatessen on Saturday morning before grabbing a knife from behind the counter and taking the manager outside, media reports say.

Police arrived and the man was shot after he threatened to cut his own throat and then attacked the woman, witnesses told the ABC.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said a woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital on Saturday morning with injuries to her neck and leg.

The intersection of Harris and Oats streets has been closed off while police investigate.
