Final stages of project

A crane lowers precast concrete steps on the bank of the Water of Leith, opposite the University of Otago Science 3 building.

An Otago Regional Council spokesman said the steps would provide pedestrian access to the water's edge.

The flood protection work, by main contractor Downer New Zealand Ltd, would be completed early next month, he said.
