AOS alert after 'hysterical' call

The Dunedin police armed offenders squad was put on alert after a ''hysterical male'' phone police this morning.

Clutha-Taieri area response manager Alistair Dickie said police received the call from Green Island address about 9.30am.

Because of ''the nature of the call and history of the individual, armed police responded from Mosgiel and Dunedin and Dunedin AOS were alerted''.

Cordons were established around the house and ambulance staff were put on standby; however, the situation was ''quickly resolved''.

No arrests were made.
