Portobello Rd resident Steve Hawkins told the Otago Daily Times last week Cr John Bezett was ''bullying'' him and his wife, Lorraine, by blocking their cars into the right of way which ran through the councillor's property.
Cr Bezett did not wish to comment when contacted last week, other than to say Mr Hawkins had ''a particular attitude that's hopefully being sorted out''.
When contacted again yesterday, Cr Bezett said: ''I spoke to Steve last night and I think we have come to an amicable solution.''
Asked if the dispute was resolved, Cr Bezett also said: ''You would have to ask him that but, as far as I'm concerned, I'm fine.''
Mr Hawkins confirmed Cr Bezett was no longer using his Toyota RAV4 to block the couple's cars from entering their property.
Cr Bezett had used his vehicle to prevent the Hawkins from taking their cars to work last Friday and Mr Hawkins said he was told by phone, during the weekend, that he ''best be prepared to catch the bus in the morning'' when the matter could not be resolved.
Mr Hawkins said Cr Bezett visited him on Monday and ''put his hands in the air and said, 'You win'.''
It was ''not about winning'', but he was pleased the matter had been resolved, he said.
''He [Cr Bezett] had two cars parked across our driveway to stop us going to work [on Monday] and when I got home they were gone, so I don't know if it will work things out,'' he said.
''He's made a commitment to us that he's not going to block us in.''
His lawyer would send a letter to Cr Bezett seeking an apology and an assurance the blockade would not happen again, he said.
''He's absolutely disgraced himself as far as I'm concerned,'' Mr Hawkins said.
