Billy's back but keeps his talk for the stage

Connolly, on his 12th tour of New Zealand and first in five years went for a stroll outside Dunedin's Southern Cross Hotel shortly after arriving in the city yesterday afternoon, but was not giving interviews - a point made clear to an Otago Daily Times photographer in typically profane, and humorous, style.

However, it appeared ODT staff were not the only ones chasing him.

One Dunedin fan left a letter at the hotel, offering a tour of the city on a three-wheeled motorcycle - similar to the one Connolly used in New Zealand in 2004 - a spokeswoman for Connolly said.

Time constraints meant it was "unlikely" the offer would be taken up, she said.

Connolly was due to leave the city today for a show in Invercargill tomorrow night, followed by Queenstown on Saturday and other dates around the country.
