Emergency services attend a house fire in Brockville on Thursday night.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand supervisor Brent Dunn said crews were deployed about 10.45pm to the house on Wray St, amid reports that a person remained in the house.

On arrival they found and extinguished a small fire in a bedroom, he said.

St John attended and assisted a "very distressed" but otherwise unharmed person.

The cause of the blaze was known to fire crews but he was unable to provide further details.

Police and a fire investigator had been notified.
