Keeping it hyperreal

Standing proudly beside one part of her untitled artwork is Kirsty Lewry (25), a student at the Dunedin School of Art at  Otago Polytechnic.

The final work for her honours year, it will be assessed tomorrow  and displayed as part of the SITE exhibition, which runs from  November 24 to 29 at the Dunedin School of Art.

Ms Lewry said her work, which spans an entire wall and features several digital prints, drew on ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arrangement.

It also alluded to modern advertising design practices through the use of a digital screen print modelled on an advertising light box.

The idea behind this was to imbue her work with a sense of "hyperreality" by forcing the viewer to question what was real and what was not, she said.
