Dance crew 10 Kura Hustlers from Carisbrook School in Dunedin took to the stage at the NZCAF Otago-Southland Aerobics and Hip Hop Regionals, held at ILT Stadium Southland in Invercargill yesterday.

Crew member Natalia Wilson-Beg (12) said her group had been rehearsing for about two months for the competition.

"It’s nerve-racking but it’s very exciting to see all our hard work is paying off."

About 180 dancers from across Otago and Southland made up the 24 crews set to compete at the three-day event ending tomorrow.

The national competitions were scheduled to be held from September 18-20 in Wellington and Dunedin. PHOTO & REPORT: ABBEY PALMER

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
