City kids went country for the day during a meet-up between two very different Dunedin schools.
Yesterday, year 3 and 4 pupils from the inner-city-based Arthur Street School headed to Lee Stream School west of Outram for a hands-on farming experience.
Lee Stream School principal Kate Martin said it was "town meets country" as the children visited a farm across the road from the school.
"They’re petting the lambs, feeding the calves, milking Rosie the cow, we had a shearing demonstration and they went around and had a look at all the farming equipment.
"Just our wee mini A&P show."
Ms Martin said when the crowd of 65 year 3 and 4 Arthur Street pupils rolled up, the 14 Lee Stream pupils had to move all the tables and chairs out of the way.
"Because we've never had that many in the classroom before."

"The kids, they are loving it ... the smells can be quite overwhelming at first, but they are loving it."
Arthur Street School teacher Alice Frame said the pupils were getting an experience "many have never really ever had".
"Quite a few of our kids haven't seen, and certainly haven't touched, farm animals ... their idea of a farm is purely what they've seen on TV."
Today, it will be the Lee Stream pupils’ turn for a culture shock as they head into the big smoke for a "city day".
They will visit the new Arthur Street School buildings, visit a local playground and the Edgar Centre.
