Indecent acts witnessed on Dunedin beaches

Police are urging people to report suspicious behaviour after two accounts of a man acting indecently on Dunedin beaches this week.

A police spokeswoman said reports had been  received  of a man acting indecently in the St Kilda Beach sand dunes on Tuesday about 4pm.

This followed a similar incident a day earlier at Tomahawk Beach.

Police were unable to locate any man after reports were made.

They could not rule out the possibility the incidents involved different men, she said.

"If anyone sees anything suspicious or feels threatened, they are encouraged to call police on 111."

A man who saw the offender at St Kilda beach said he was middle-aged, with a stocky build.

"He was in full sight. I yelled out to him and tried to chase him but he got on a mountain bike and got away.

"There were kids around that were about 13 or 14 years old."
