A wannabe Dunedin influencer was arrested on Saturday night after verbally abusing members of the public and assaulting a woman.
The 38-year-old man had been filming himself and others in the central city for about six hours before he pushed a woman over about 10pm in the Octagon, Sergeant Matt Lee said.
The woman had asked the man to stop filming her and, in response, he knocked her down and she hit her head on a door frame.
He then continued to be confrontational and verbally abusive to members of the public, bar staff and security, Sgt Lee said.
Police were called and he was arrested.
He was charged with assault, disorderly behaviour likely to cause violence and speaking threateningly.
The man would appear in the Dunedin District Court at a later date, Sgt Lee said.
■ A disagreement between two women over who ran a red light in Dunedin had to be sorted out by police checking CCTV in the area.
Vehicles driven by an 80-year-old and a 22-year-old collided at the intersection of Cumberland and Lower Stuart Sts on Saturday at 7.10am. Both claimed the other ran a red light.
No-one was injured, but both cars were significantly damaged and needed to be towed from the scene.
Sgt Lee said police checked CCTV footage and found it was the elderly woman, who was driving north in Cumberland St, who ran a red light.
She was issued with an infringement notice.
■ On Saturday at 1.50pm, a 17-year-old allegedly drove into a person riding an e-scooter on the footpath in George St while swinging wide to avoid a vehicle being parallel parked.
The 41-year-old male scooter rider was taken to Dunedin Hospital by ambulance for precautionary checks, Sgt Lee said.
The teenager had been referred to Youth Aid.
■ A 48-year-old woman, almost five times over the legal limit, decided to go for a coffee after crashing her car into a concrete wall, severely damaging the front of the vehicle, Sgt Lee said.
She crashed her car at 12.29pm on Sunday at the Roslyn shopping centre and, when police arrived, admitted to having consumed alcohol.
The woman was breath tested and recorded a breath alcohol level of 1134mcg. The legal limit is 250mcg.
She was charged with drink-driving, third or subsequent, her licence was suspended and she will appear in the Dunedin District Court at a later date.
