Police were called to the Ministry of Social Development office in South Dunedin yesterday after reports of a man making threatening comments to staff.

A police spokeswoman said they were called at 9.05am to the Hillside Rd branch but the man had left.

Officers then unsuccessfully searched for the man, she said.

``There'll be follow-up inquiries.''

Nobody was hurt in the incident and the man was understood to have not been wielding a weapon.
