Search for wanted man

A police dog and handler patrol in Oakwood Ave, in Dunedin, searching for a man wanted for stealing from vehicles.

Police descended on the area about 2pm yesterday, and established a cordon at the intersection of Oakwood Ave and Renfrew St in Maryhill.

Detective Sergeant David Nelson, of Dunedin, said police were executing search warrants yesterday and recovered several items stolen from vehicles in the city over the past few days.

"Police are actively seeking an offender in relation to these thefts and as a result of inquiries in the Mornington area, a man sought in relation to these thefts has fled from police." Attempts to locate the man continued yesterday evening, Det Sgt Nelson said.
