The teenager who sent a threat to Bayfield High School causing a schoolwide lockdown a fortnight ago has been identified.
On November 14, police were called to Bayfield High School after a youth sent a threatening email to the school leading to an armed offenders squad callout and pupils to be placed into lockdown for much of the morning.
A police spokesman said Dunedin police had identified the person responsible for the threats.
The youth was referred to Youth Aid.
The threat came through just before the NCEA level 1 science exam and level 2 chemistry exam were to be held.
Concerned parents were gathered outside the police cordons around the school as pupils were kept under lockdown until about 10.30am.
