Victim knocked out in South Dunedin assault

A man was assaulted in South Dunedin yesterday morning by an unknown assailant, police say.

Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said the 28-year-old man was assaulted around 8.30am shortly after parking his car on Atkinson St.

The victim was briefly knocked out, and was left with swelling on his head and a split lip.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity at that time.
