But they are the perfect mix for young mother Vanessa Cook.
Ms Cook, also known as TRON, will DJ Fresh Light Frequencies’ first rave at Erricks next Saturday, starting at the unusual time of 7am.
As she now had children and could no longer go to raves that ran until the wee hours, she decided to offer an alternative for avid partygoers.
While Dunedin boasted some of the best bass DJs in the country, there were few sets that started before 9pm.
Ms Cook guaranteed the bass hit was just as good in the morning as it was late at night.
‘‘It’s so good and it sets you up for the whole day,’’ she said.
Daytime dance parties were dominated by house music, First Light wanted to bring something different to the fold.
‘‘We love house, but we really love bass music,’’ Ms Cook said.
Bass-driven music was predominantly played by men, so it was nice to have a gig with female DJs, she said.
The event was alcohol-free and open to all ages, organiser Rosie Hill said.
‘‘Everyone can come, it’s about showcasing amazing female talent.’’
Ms Hill recommended people arrive sober and let the music set the atmosphere.
Laura Marsh, also known as LLUSH, would be DJing alongside TRON at the gig.
