Otago Regional Council governance, culture and customer general manager Amanda Vercoe addresses a crowd of almost 30 potential local government candidates at a candidates meeting at Toitu Otago Settlers Museum last night while Dunedin City Council Maori, partnerships and policy general manager Jeanette Wikaira (partially obscured) and Dunedin City Council deputy electoral officer Clare Sullivan look on.

The council hopefuls were treated to a overview of key strategies, the main challenges councils faced and their achievements.

The potential candidates were advised to look over the 10-year plan to get a clear understanding of how the respective councils worked.
