The Dunedin City Council said it expected the seesaw to be up and running again within a week.
A replacement spring was expected to cost $200 to $300 and this would be covered by the council, central city plan project director Glen Hazelton said.

Seesaws in the play area have had problems such as "a design issue" and "vandalism-induced squeaking" since their 2024 installation.
"We’re very happy with the playground and the positive change it has brought to our main street," Dr Hazelton said.
