Co-organiser Swaroopa Unni said the celebrations were becoming more popular in Dunedin as the years went by.

This year's event went ``really well'' and had great input from various community groups.

The Otago Museum held workshops during the day such as how to wrap turbans and drape saris.

This was followed by performances and Indian food in the Octagon and Dunedin Art Gallery in the afternoon.

It was partly organised by the art gallery.
