
Sergeant Matt Lee said police responded to the collision in Winifred St, Concord, about 10.45am on Sunday.
‘‘The street has been subject to multiple vehicles doing burnouts in the street over the weekend.’’
One driver, in a Holden, began performing a burnout but lost control and crashed into a parked car in the street.
He then fled the scene on foot before being picked up by another vehicle, Sgt Lee said.
Inquiries were continuing.
• Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Milton Hwy (State Highway 1), about noon on Sunday.
A a 19-year-old man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a ditch.
The man was verbally aggressive towards firefighters and ambulance staff, Sgt Lee said.
‘‘The male was warned about his behaviour, but it continued and he was arrested.’’
He recorded a breath alcohol level of 380mcg — the legal limit for people under 20 is zero.
The man was bailed to appear in the Dunedin District Court at a later date, charged with disorderly behaviour and for having a breath alcohol level over 150mcg, Sgt Lee said.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they sent two ambulances and transported a person to Dunedin Hospital in a minor condition.
