Dunedin beach on display in British ad

An advertisement for a British bank featuring 20 black horses galloping along Tomahawk Beach is putting the beauty of Dunedin on display for the world to see.

Lloyds Bank has released its commercial which features a herd of black horses sprinting majestically along the beach while a throng of people watch from the dunes and run down to greet the creatures.

The advert, called The Running of the Horses,  was posted to the company's YouTube channel yesterday.

The filming of the advert began on February 11 where they took shots of the herd of horses sprinting through the waves.

On February 13 the film crew returned to the beach, this time with actors.

Tomahawk woman Dee Sorrell had for several days been watching preparations for the big shoot before it took place.

Ms Sorrell said it was rare to have the opportunity to see that  many horses galloping through the surf.

"I almost burst into tears, it was so spectacular," she said.

Enterprise Dunedin director John Christie said it was a great opportunity for Dunedin to  showcase its attractions.
