Fire and Emergency New Zealand communications shift supervisor Brent Dunn said crews were called at 6.52am to reports of a fire in a switchboard of an Islington St home.
The fire was under control and did not spread, though crews were still there about 8.30am ventilating the home using a fan, Mr Dunn said.
