The Waikouaiti Fire and Emergency open day yesterday  featured the brigade’s brand new fire appliance (pictured), plus demonstrations of CPR, escaping from the maze for children, and the Dunedin Fire Brigade Restoration Society’s 1942 Ford V8 fire appliance.

A considerable number of visitors attended the open day, Waikouaiti Fire and Emergency New Zealand member Rebecca Fiveash said.

The brigade was hoping to attract more volunteers to boost brigade numbers, she said.
