Fighting off aliens and robots in the world of virtual reality as part of the OUSA Re-Ori Esports Arcade at the University of Otago yesterday is Jack Trott (15), of Nelson.

Video games from the past and present were available for the public to play at Union Hall yesterday.

Event co-ordinator Mitch Adams said it was important for students to have something quick and fun they could participate in after class as they settled back into their studies.

While it was designed with students in mind, anyone was welcome to have a go, he said.

Many different types of game console were available to try, from pinball and Pac-Man cabinets to PlayStation and virtual reality.

The pop-up arcade was available from 11am to 2pm and would run until tomorrow, he said. PHOTO: CHRISTINE O’CONNOR
