A 53-year-old Dunedin man has been charged with GHB following an incident in Northeast Valley, Dunedin, last month in which a man was left with eye injuries.

Police officers making a routine traffic stop in North Rd came across two badly injured men.

One appeared to have been stabbed in the eye and the other in the forearm.

Detective Sergeant Chris Henderson said the man with the arm injury had been charged with reckless disregard for the safety of others and causing grievous bodily harm to a 38-year-old man.

He will appear in the Dunedin District Court next Thursday.

The man with the eye injury was expected to need several operations.
