Tomorrow, the George St Market is set to once again take over the main street with stalls. However, growth has meant more side streets and the area right up to the Octagon are also being used in a bid for more room.
Enterprise Dunedin destination manager Teresa Fogarty said 100% of the stallholders who took part last year had returned.
They also had almost double the number of stallholders compared with last year.
‘‘Everybody will be there at 5am, for setup, so all hands will be on deck.’’
Large numbers are expected to attend on the day, with two large cruise ships due in, nice weather forecasted, and the Masters Games being held in the city.
‘‘It’s nice to see George St used to its full potential. It was busy last year, and I think it’s going to be even busier this year.’’
Food would be served in ‘‘Eats and Beats on Bath St’’, which would be a dedicated food and music zone open until 8pm.
There would also be other food vendors in side streets.
Dunedin City Council event producer Olha Viazenko said there were also many more performers, and extra areas had to be added to account for the increased numbers and larger market.
She said there were 237 stalls in total.
‘‘We have almost double the number of market holders, and a huge amount more performers as well. It’s fantastic.’’
