Game consoles stolen from student flats

Police are seeking information after video game consoles were targeted in a burglaries in North Dunedin at the weekend.

Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said three burglaries of student flats in the area overnight on Saturday showed a trend.

A burglary in Leith St resulted in the theft of a PlayStation 4, a skateboard, a UE Boom and a white Honda City, all of which were yet to be located.

In the same period, a PlayStation 4 was stolen from a flat in Agnew St and an Xbox One and games were stolen from a flat in Duke St.

Snr Sgt Butterfield said he could not be absolutely certain the burglaries were connected, ''though from those it looks like someone is targeting addresses in North Dunedin''.

The video game consoles would most likely be sold, he said.

''So we'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who may have been offered those items or knew someone who may have come into possession of those.''
