Waitangi Day was one of clear skies and blustery winds that sent windsurfers scudding across the harbour.
Saturday’s high temperature in Dunedin was 16.7degC, while Sunday was even cooler, at 14.8degC.
However, yesterday was a cracker with a high of 20degC, a welcome change of weather that brought fishing boats and yachts out on the harbour and even snorkellers without wetsuits to the Aramoana mole.
MetService meteorologist David Miller said to enjoy it while it lasted: rain was forecast for tomorrow and Thursday.
Further afield, in the flood-stricken Buller and Westland Districts, more rain was also expected this week.
MetService issued a red warning for heavy rain in those areas last week.
