Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken said Cody Penson (19) and Lisa McCormack (14) turned themselves in to the Westport police station yesterday.
She was not sure if it was due to publication of their photographs in the Otago Daily Times yesterday.
The 19-year-old faced burglary and theft charges after he was arrested in relation to offending in the Musselburgh area last month. He was released on bail.
The 14-year-old was involved in the offending, along with another 20-year-old man, and had been bailed to an address.
They had not been seen in Dunedin since Sunday and a warrant had been issued for Penson's arrest. Police feared for the girl's wellbeing.
He will appear in the Greymouth District Court today.
She would be returned to Child Youth and Family custody, Snr Sgt Aitken said.
It was understood the pair had been at the home of a relative of the man.
